2018 Resolutions

Hey nobody! I’m back for new years resolutions,

campaign actively for Basic Income - I’ve been holding monthly meetups (fortnightly turned out to be too often for everyone involved), I’ve been connecting with advocates around the country/world and we’ve made some campaigning tools. So I would say success! Of course there is always more to do.

make inventions - well last year I had just been accepted into my last place uni preference and now I’ve been accepted into my first choice uni preference! So that is an improvement! But it's not making inventions... see, I did a full first year at the original and then without a break at all was thrown head first into first year at the other. All in all I had Jan/Feb to look for a job and then every other month I’ve been studying (and still in the fundamentals stage so not making anything super exciting with uni yet)

So what are the goals for this year? Kind of the same…

pass every class - I’ve just found out that my Centrelink payments are going to have no flexibility at all so if I don’t pass every uni class then it’s going to be really difficult for me to fund myself as I progress. This means I’m going to have about 8 really intense months as I focus exclusively on uni and then another 4 or so months of getting other things done. The good news regarding Centrelink/uni is that there seems to be an open door into getting a five year double-degree with robotics engineering and computer science so I’m going to be a super-powered automation expert at the end. A very old automation expert.

make inventions - this is what I’m hoping to prioritise in those other four months. I’ve been saying for years I want to buckle down on getting the website online but this should finally be my chance. I’m not going to have a lot of money due to the Centrelink situation but I’ve got plenty of digital projects to work on and I’m in the process of designing a murphy bed for one of my classes so I’ll play it by ear.

campaign actively for Basic Income - we’ve laid some behind the scenes groundwork but I really want to get started on visual tools such as brochures, business cards, memes. The meetups will continue regardless of attendance but it would be really great to see it go up this year. There are many people interested in the idea but it’s hard to get them in the same place at the same time.
